Eden had her echocardiogram today which showed that she still has pulmonary hypertension (for an explanation of PH in preemies, see this link http://nicu-info.blogspot.com/2009/07/nicu-persistent-pulmonary-hypertension.html ). This is very serious and we are worried again. A Pulmonologist will see her this week and we will determine a course of action. PLEASE PLEASE pray that Eden's PH will resolve itself without having a trach. We truly need a miracle right now. Thank you for all the prayers.
Hi!
ReplyDeleteI found your blog through thebump.com and thought I would leave you a note about PH :
My daughter Mackenzie was born at 27+3 weeks weighing 1 pound, 10 ounces. She had an ASD (hole in her heart) and too suffered from pulmonary hypertension throughout our 19 week NICU stay.
Her cardiologist prescribed diuretics to manage this, and placed her on fluid restriction (meaning we had to be very careful how much we fed her)....and after 4 months of that treatment, her PH was gone and hasn't returned since.
Have your doctors recommended this to you guys at all? Mackenzie was on Lasix and Aldactone...and a trach was never even mentioned for us.
You guys will be in my thoughts and prayers. Know that you are not alone and many have walked the same path that you are. Feel free to email me at mandifisher81@yahoo.com or check out my blog, www.kissesforkenzie.blogspot.com if you have any questions or just want to chat!
