We received so many beautiful cards, letters, texts, emails and Facebook messages from family, friends and even strangers that gave us comfort during this difficult time. We have looked back on these messages when we are having exceptionally bad days, so we thought we would share a few here:
“He will wipe every tear from their eyes, and there will be no more death or sorrow or crying or pain. All these things are gone forever.” Rev. 21:4
“Those we have held in our arms for a short while, we hold in our hearts forever.”
“So much hope and promise in one amazing little person-who can ever believe all that is gone. Every dream ever dreamed for this child came from the very deepest love. And that love will live on forever.”
“God will never leave you…He knows how it feels to have a broken heart. He knows how much you need comfort and healing… But He won’t hurry you or ask you to feel better until you’re ready. He simply promises to be there by your side, comforting you always.”
“Although her impact on me cannot compare to her impact on your family-know that she has changed me as a nurse and a person. Though her life was short-it was incredibly powerful.”
“Scott, you and your wife are amazing. Thanks for the lessons you've taught so many people and for demonstrating how incredible the human spirit can be. Thank you both.”
“Eden is a very lucky girl to have known so much love and to have parents who would go to the end of the Earth to take care of her. She will live on forever in the kids that she will save and in all of our hearts.”
My account of the journey of our growing family. As we watch Reagan grow we shed tears of sadness for Eden.

Our first holiday
This weekend was our first holiday without Eden. Even though the girls would be too young to understand what Easter is all about, it still makes me incredibly sad that we couldn't be together as a family. It was bittersweet to get Reagan dressed in her Easter dress and take pictures of her alone. My heart was aching the entire time. There is no lack of heartache in my blog posts, and they may be this way for awhile.... just a warning.
Everything is hard. Getting up is hard, showering is hard, playing with Reagan is hard, leaving the house is nearly impossible. I can't see myself ever truly smiling like before or laughing quite as happily. My heart literally hurts, my mind is full of questions and I keep asking God why. I have pain, heartache, anger, frustration, sadness, disappointment... there are not enough words. I just keep saying 'I want her back' and 'I can't believe she's gone'. Scott and I often just look at each other with tears in our eyes and say, I can't believe she's gone. The small seed of comfort I have is when I close my eyes and see her face. I can feel her soft hair on my lips, touch her cheeks with my fingers, gaze at her beautiful lashes and trace her perfect lips. This image is forever in my mind and my heart. I will never forget. And we will never be the same Amanda and Scott.
Please pray for us.

We love you Eden
I never knew my heart could feel so broken. Everyday is a struggle just to get out of bed. Scott feels the same way, and he has gone back to work so it’s probably even harder for him. This sadness that I walk around with every moment of everyday feels like it will never go away. Our lives are forever changed, we can't 'get through this' or 'move on', we have determined though that we simply have become different people; people who have lost a child, people whose hearts ache, people who want their daughters spirit and legacy to live on forever. We are figuring out how to do this- how do we make people and Reagan, especially, ALWAYS remember Eden. Sometimes we wish that God would write it down on a piece of paper, but we know that He doesn't work that way. Instead, somehow and at some point in our lives He will reveal to us how to make Eden live on. For now, we simply ache for her. We LOVE you forever Eden.
Thank you again to everyone for the cards, money, donations, flowers, gifts, meals, support and love.

Love Grampa C.
Dear Eden,
My beautiful sweet grand baby. There are no words to describe how much I love you. You brought me so many smiles. I never got tired of gazing at your perfect little body and your lovely face. You always moved me to tears. I loved your china doll lips, your bright eyes with your intense lowered eye brows, your soft precious face and you’re always out stretched arms. I loved your little fingers gripping my finger. I loved your tiny toes, and your cubby legs and arms and your fuzzy blond hair.
I had a lifetime of plans for you. I prayed for the day when you would be free of your trach, feeding tube and IV’s, I’m happy that you are now. I only wish I could have seen it here on earth. My heart hurts with non-stop pain of missing you. I pray every day for your parents and sister.
I try to imagine you now in heaven. I see a happy smiley little girl. I see you sitting on Jesus lap and sometimes walking with Him with your little fingers curling around His finger, just like you did with me. I see you well and running and twirling in a cute little dress. I see you walking in wild flowers and exploring bugs and ants (non-biting kind) and butterflies. I see you picking up birds and rabbits and petting deer and fox. I’m sure your glad there’s no snakes in heaven. I only wish I could have been a part of teaching you about nature and the beauty of God’s creation. I’m sure the creator Himself would be better at it. It just would have been fun for me.
I’m having a very hard time typing the word good bye now. It even hurts my fingers to do it. I know that I & Gramma, your Dad & Mom and your Aunt’s need to keep on living for each other, for you and your sister. It’s going to be hard so please tell Jesus to tell us that “It’s OK.”
I love you Grandbaby girl. When I try hard I can smile thru my tears when I think that someday God will call me home and I will see you again.
LOVE,
Grampa C.

Thank you
Eden's service was absolutely perfect and it was a wonderful way to honor her short life. We want to personally thank every single person who attended, you have no idea how loved and supported we felt on Thursday. We feel terrible that we didn't get to personally talk to all of you, but know that we still appreciate you being there. Also we want to thank everyone for the MANY cards, donations, gifts and flowers. A special thank you to our Pastor, the four individuals who sang and played music of such memorable songs, all of the people who spoke such kind words during the service, Scott's sister who did all of the beautiful flowers, our funeral director, and a large group of volunteers.
Please go to www.youtube.com and search hedinscott. There you will see Eden's Tribute Movie that played at the service and a video of the amazing duet that a couple of our close friends played Eden's song "Beautiful"
Here are a few pictures of the 241 balloons we released at the end of the service to signify the 241 most amazing days of Eden's life.
Thank you and We Love You All!!!

Letter from Daddy
Kiddopotamus, my little Eden,
I never thought that today would ever happen. I never thought I would be celebrating your short life this way. In the last eight months, you changed me in every aspect of my life and it was all for the better. From the first time your mama and I referred to you as baby B my heart melted just thinking about you. I was so excited to teach you how to swim, ride a bike, have many special daddy/ daughter days, send you to school, just give you anything and everything you ever wanted. The amount of fight that you endured is astonishing to me and yet when anyone would walk in to see you, you still would get so excited and kick your little legs and almost act like you were screaming with excitement. No matter what kind of day I was having or the amount of stress I was dealing with, you made it all be forgotten when I came to see you. You are such an inspiration to me, the number of lives you have touched and reached in such a short time is an absolute miracle. I had never felt so much fullness in my heart when you and your sister were born. I feel like I am missing something in my heart with you not here but you will always be with me and not a moment goes by that I do not miss you and think about you. I can’t wait for that day to come so that I can hold you in my arms again, kiss you and hug you and be able to never let you go.
I LOVE YOU EDEN!!!!!
